I ended disassembling it, reusing the motor and setting the rest on the curb. I couldn't even see fit to sell it to someone thinking they may get hurt. It was vibrating so much that I couldn't imagine making a safe cut with it. The first night after using the class saws I turned on the Skil and it scared the living crap out of me. I took a basic woodworking class and used Powermatic and Sawtooth cabinet table saws. I bought a cheap saw (Skil for $150) and I worked with it for about a year and my chief complaint was that it was difficult to make accurate cuts.

The thing about a table saw is it's not really a good tool to cheap out on, having a good, straight fence, and being able to set it accurately and have it stay is everything for that tool.Īmen to that. I know guys with both of them who vouch for those. I'd also get the ridgid that you mentioned over the harbor freight.ĭepending on what your budget is there's also a metabo HPT (hitachi) that's pretty nice with a rack and pinion fence, and a Skil wormdrive that's pretty nice. But I'd still get the 745 over the Hercules.

They used to have one that was between 745 and the 7491 as well that could rip a whole sheet in half but wasn't quite as large as the 7491. The rack and pinion fence is the bee's knees. Look at the DW745S at 349 at lowe's instead.

At the price they're asking for the thing compared to others in the same price range (Like DeWalt frequently goes on sale for less than the hercules), it's not shocking that they couldn't move the thing.
